Bridge Series:
Bridges carry a certain civic pride much like state and country pride. Their primary function may be utilitarian but for locals are a source of identity.

This view of the bridge from below and outside the roadway is breathtaking. With nothing to visually hold you up its like a huge gasp of air. Showing very little of the bridge itself, with the focus on the channel it emphasizes the drama, height and span of the bridge.

I should point out this is one of those paintings I had great difficulty photographing. Even doing some editing/color correcting I could not get it right, specifically the dock. The original looks far better.167

  1. lovely david. i can't imagine the original being better. beautifully done as always!

    1. Thank you Suzanne,
This was a tough one to photograph as I'm sure you know.
I had to 'key' to the greens, so one color that is lost is a subtle yellow blue at the horizon as well as some other warms in background that give it more life.

    1. Thank you Manuel,
Thanks for visiting and following. I always appreciate the time others spend here looking.

  3. Spectacular composition. Well used the pespecctiva. Is important that the painting shows an idea or intention. The paint must say something. To convey ideas or emotions. I believe that you convey all that.
    un saludo

  4. Thank you Ricardo,
I was a little hesitant about this composition in the beginning.
The water needed to be interesting since so much is shown. Fortunately it became more about the space or air between the bridge and water.
